79 King Street will be the first 55+ multi-unit building in vibrant Northampton, MA. It is located just north of Main Street and steps from the famous Hotel Northampton. Situated on the beautiful Connecticut River, the City stands out for its restaurants, theaters, galleries, and festivals. The building is adjacent to bike paths and near parks, public transit, Smith College, and the Forbes Library/Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library and Museum.

Why Northampton and not another nice small city?

A dynamic college town that is a naturally occurring retirement community, Northampton boasts abundant cultural and social stimulation while being situated in the beautiful Pioneer Valley. The area also has a critical shortage of up to date rental housing and is especially lacking for 55+ residents.

Where did this idea come from?

Our team is like you! Ranging in age from 55 to 75, we understand that the bar to a comfortable 3rd Act in life has been raised quite a bit since we were taught to save a little, enjoy a little, and it will all work out in the end. It turns out the costs of living have far outpaced our ability to save and at the same time, the healthy living choices we made along the way are allowing us more time (years!!) to enjoy the spice of life, be it hiking and biking, dining out and going to a show, or giving back to the community by volunteering, mentoring, being positive citizens.

How will this building and community of residents contribute positively to the local community?

79 King Street will be one of the most environmentally forward buildings in Northampton, if not North America. Greenhouse gas emissions will be dramatically less than comparable buildings that burn gas and oil and are not built to a Passive House Standard. Moreover, the residents will add to the social and cultural fabric of the City while contributing an economic boost to the community, ideally while driving less and using alternative transportation more.

Is there a plan to build more apartments in other small cities and towns?

Yes! We hope to offer 4 more buildings in the Northeast over the next 3-5 years. Stay tuned to this space ; )

When can I move into 79 King Street?

We are now finalizing the details of the design and expect to break ground in early to mid 2025. Construction is expected to be about 18 months with move in 2026.
